Sonnet II

As water is to fire and of the earth and air,
My dear and I, we can never be free,
For our differences won’t allow you near me.
And your parents, if they ever saw us, would just stare
At the sight of us, my hand in your hair.
They don’t understand the love you have for me,
Of what we go through, you see,
The love we have, we just want it to be laid bare.

So we sneak out in the dead of night,
Just to meet up in some abandoned place,
To see each other and relax in peace.
Because your parents’, to my delight,
Never would have seen the smile on your face,
Had it not been for my release.
